How to Make a Tic Tac Board with Your Cricut

Paint the Die.
First you will paint all of your cubes white. Paint the top half, let them dry and then go back and paint the bottom half. You will need two coats on all sides. Use a heat gun to dry or let them air dry.
Pro Tip: Use a Heat Gun.
I absolutely LOVE my heat gun! It allows me to finish my projects faster because I don’t have to wait on the paint to dry! This is my favorite heat gun and the one I use all of the time!

Stain the Shadow Box.
Now you will paint the frame of your shadow box. Mix a little of the brown paint with water. This technique gives a faux stain look. Brush the watered paint on the box and wipe it off with a paper towel. When it is covered, set it aside to dry.

Add the Antique Glaze.
Next you will add your antique glaze to the cubes to give them a vintage look. Brush a little bit on all of the sides and take a paper towel and brush it off.

Upload the Files to Design Space.
Upload the X and O to your Cricut design space. The cubes are 2×2 inches. Insert a square as a template and resize the X and O to fit onto the dice shape. Make sure they are both the same, top and bottom. You can choose any size you would like.
Slice the files.
Center them on the square and make a cutout by slicing the letters in the square. Select the letter and the square, then click slice. Delete the pieces you do not need so you are left with the what’s in the image above.
Duplicate each one five times for all of your die. You can either use the stencil and paint on your X and O’s or use the vinyl and put it directly on your cubes.

Cut out the vinyl.
Send your project to the cutting machine. I used brown glossy vinyl. I did not use the stencil. I just cut them out and hand placed them. You can do what ever technique works for you. Load your vinyl shiny side up into your machine.

Weed away the extra brown from your cut. Leave only the part of the design you want to keep on the paper backing.

Add the vinyl to the dice.
I hand placed my X and O’s because I did not want the transfer tape to pull up the paint. You can use your weeding tool to help you place them.
If you want to transfer them with transfer tape, place the weeded designs face down on the sticky side of the transfer tape. Apply pressure. Peel off the paper backing, then line it up on the die. Apply pressure, then peel off the transfer tape.
